I Finally Tried Omarchy

I tried Omarchy. I’s an opiniated Linux distro with looks and it’s fancy. Here’s my opinions.

First of all, I did not use it in bare metal. I used it in “Try Omarchy” app on my MacBook.

It’s Just a Rice

My biggest problem is, it’s not a distro. It’s just a rice named “distro”. There’s some apps for it but you can install them on Arch too.

It does not any special things. For example, if you install Arch, Hyprland and Noctalia then do theme integrations, that will be a better setup.

It does not show my OpenRouter credits

Agent tab in bar should show credits. It does with Grok, ChatGPT and Claude. But it doesn’t do it with OpenRouter + OpenCode. Why?

Why a Rice is Getting Millions of Dollars?

It’s just a rice named distro and getting millions of dollars. I think there’s some problem with it. Even someone with strong connections should not get that money by just a rice. Give me 12 million dollars, I can do a better rice :).

I hate DHH

You can see why I hate him here.

The Configuration is Nice

I dislike Omarchy as a distro but I liked it as dotfiles. I know, there’s good dotfiles too but I am not comparing them. I think Omarchy’s configuration file is really clean.

And, default configuration is pretty usable. I really liked how is it. Keybinds, settings etc. are good.

It does not Feel Mine

Omarchy is opiniated. That’s why I dislike it. I use Linux or customize macOS, Windows because it should feel mine. Omarchy does not make me feel that. At some point, you are using other people’s configuration.
