Best Things to Self-host

Hello. If you're like me and want to take your freedom in internet again, you can be interested in self-hosting. We'll explore what I love to self-host in this article.

What I host?

Ghost

This blog is made using Ghost. Yes, there's Wordpress but I don't want that complexity, I just want minimalism. I won't use any extra features in Wordpress which doesn't exist in Ghost.

Forgejo

I don't primarily use it but I mirror my GitHub repos there as a backup.

Nextcloud

It's so awesome. You can store files, talk to your friends, read news and many more.

FreshRSS

You can get informed with RSS and FreshRSS is the best way to do it in my opinion.

LocalSend

You can AirDrop files easily from any device to any device which has a web browser and can store files.

PieFed

It's Lemmy but more modern. It's fully compatible with Lemmy.

Pleroma

Mastodon is too heavy and that's why I use Pleroma as ActivityPub client.

PrivateBin

To share logs etc.

Prosody

I'm hosting a XMPP server to chat with people.

SearXNG

Google is tracking what you search. So, use SearXNG to search. Google quality searches, no data.

And, how can I host them?

I host them using YunoHost. Because manually them is the best way but hardest way.
